[de] ich war kürzlich in huntington beach, kalifornien – das surfmekka. vom berühmten pier hinunter hab ich dieses foto geschossen. ich hatte das glück, das der surfer alleine war und er direkt unter mir hindurchging. ich machte etwa acht fotos in serie, und dieses hat mir am besten gefallen. es ist genau das foto wo er mit einem fuss ins wasser geht…
was für mich das foto so speziell macht sind die linien des wassers und des schattens, einfache muster und die bewegung des wassers. ich hab das foto in schwarz weiss konvertiert um die eher langweiligen farben die von den formen abgelenkt haben zu entfernen.

[en] a couple of weeks ago, i was in huntington beach, california – the surf mekka. from atop the famous pier i was able to get this shot. i was lucky enough that this surfer was alone, and that he walked directly beneath me. i took about eight frames, and this one i liked best. one of the reasons was the water line – he was just entering with one foot…
what makes the picture special for me are the lines. the diagonal line of the receeding waterline coincides with the diagonal shadow. then, we have simple shapes and some sense of movement of the water. i converted the picture to black and white to get rid of any distraction in the color, as i wanted the shapes and lines (also on the surfboard) to stand out.
