Art Store Barcelona

OK, so after the take off, this is the first picture I’m posting to blog about. I have a few from the past which I’ll just grab to ramble on about in the next few weeks. Just some of my favorites that I like to see here.

Above is an art store or something similar, found in the winding, romantic streets of Barcelona. A short weekend trip there revealed many beautiful subjects, and a weekend isn’t enough to grab the spirit and put it into the frame well enough to do the city justice.

This little store seemed so lively on the outside, but the further you looked in, it got more mysterious. They sold paintings, memorabilia and some antiques. The shop owner, just barely recognizable, is almost disappearing with her treasures inside the store. I really like the layered look that it gets, partially due to the actual picture, partially due to the way I worked it in the digital darkroom. I saturated the colors in the foreground and let the background ones fade almost to black and white.

I printed this on a 80x60cm canvas as I found that a fitting print for an Art Store. It looks quite nice, and almost gets the touch of a painting. The colors stand out nicely. Only, the printer didn’t crop it quite the way I had requested, making the picture seem slightly off center.

What would I improve next time? I would have loved to get a bit more light on the inside, but without placing a flash, thats near impossible. Of course, I could have done an HDR, but first of all, I’m not quite comfortable with HDR yet and secondly, I didn’t have my tripod.

that is. thx.
